And so it begins...

All of the exciting baby activities, that is...

This is what I found on my desk when I walked in this morning:

My first shower invitation! This is for my work shower that's happening next Friday! I can't believe this time has finally come.

Other exciting things happening are that my doctor now wants to start seeing me every 2 weeks instead of every 4 so now the time in between appointments is flying by and I get to see the babies more often!

Also, I have a 3D ultrasound scheduled for 2 weeks from now where we will get to see them in 3D for almost an hour! I'm ready to see what these babies look like. Do they have my nose or David's, are there any dimples (I have no clue if that's even possible to see right now, but I still want to know!), all that kind of stuff.

And then I have a shower at my house in about a month with all of our friends and family. So excited to see everyone and to show off the nursery!

Then it's time for our childbirth classes and hospital tour. I know this makes me a big geek, but I'm even excited about that. I want to see where I'll be giving birth and the NICU (I'm keeping my fingers crossed that the babies don't have to see the NICU though...)

Then it's time for Christmas and time is going to fly after that. It's all going to come so fast and I'm ready for it. I'm ready to meet these babies!

24 Weeks

Pregnancy Highlights:
How Far Along: 24 Weeks

Size of babies: 11.8 inches long

Total Weight Gain/Loss: Gained 27 lbs

Maternity Clothes: Um yeah.

Gender: A boy and a girl :)

Movement: All the time, but most movement is at night when I'm getting ready to go to sleep.

Sleep: I'm sleeping good, after I finally got over my cold.

What I miss: Nothing.

Cravings: Sweets, but I'm trying to control myself.

Symptoms: SERIOUS heartburn! I've tried everything, pills, gum, chugging milk. It's horrible and most definitely the worst pregnancy symptom I've had so far.

Best Moment this week: Having my maternity pictures taken! Here's a sneak peak:

23 Week Doctor Appointment

Sorry, no pictures today.

We had our 23 week appointment with the doctor this week and everything is still looking good. At the appointment with him we only got to see the babies on his little hand held ultrasound machine, but we got to see those heartbeats, so I was content with that.
I asked him when he would start checking my cervix because I feel like baby boy is really low (and in my mind he could just fall out if I sneeze!). The doctor assured me that he is in a normal position but wanted to put my mind at ease so he ordered me to do a real ultrasound with the tech.

So the next day I was back in the doctors office for my ultrasound. The cervix checked out perfect, so no worries there. I did get to see that there is a head and a hand right on my cervix. Baby boy is just hanging out down there. And he was just talking away like he had to much to say. I'm so excited to meet this little boy that has such a big personality with his constant movement and now the jibber jabber.

Then we moved up to her and noticed that they are kind of facing each other, both heads down and feet turned in to each other. So when they kick, it's likely they kick each other. And that makes is difficult for me to determine who is kicking when I feel it (like I do as I'm typing this).

But I definitely know where her head is because she likes to stretch it out and I get a really hard spot on the side of my belly. He does the same thing, only lower and that usually happens when I get up from sitting too long. It's like he has to readjust.

I was not expecting to get to see them at the ultrasound appointment since it was just for my cervix. But it was such a happy surprise.

On a random note...I like to think that they're dancing when I'm on my way to work and I have the radio turned up loud. I used to turn it up loud on my drive in to help me wake up a little bit, but now I do it to feel them moving and shaking in there.

Happy Friday

I just wanted to do a quick post since it's been about a week since my last post. I didn't want anyone to think something was wrong or anything!

Not much has been going on, but yet at the same time we've been so busy! We've just had something to do every night this week for some reason and now I'm ready for the weekend!

I'm 21 weeks today! I'm only doing belly pictures and stats every 2 weeks for now, but since a post is no fun without a picture...I went to the bathroom here at work and took one for you.

I've gained 21 pounds so far, so that averages out about a pound a week, right? No! I didn't gain weight very fast at first, but now I'm gaining about 2-3 pounds a week! It's my own fault though, I need to get out and go walking more. So my new goal is to walk at least 4 times a week. That shouldn't be too hard, right?

The babies are moving around all the time and I love it. It's really the best feeling I've ever had. David has finally felt them moving too. It's very far and in between, but when we're laying in bed at night watching tv he'll lay his hand on my belly and just wait for something to happen. They will be moving around like crazy and then turn shy as soon as he puts his hand on my belly. Then the night before last, he finally felt a good big kick.

I still have about a week and a half before my next doctor's appointment, but them moving around is all I need to know they're ok for the moment.

The nursery is coming along a little more. I got the bedding in, but I need to wash the sheets and iron a few things before I'm ready to post any pictures. I think I have all of the art for the walls too, just have to paint a few frames before I can hang them all up. I'm ordered a new light fixture and a rug that should be here in the next few days.

Then all I will have to do is hang something above their cribs with their names on it. Oh, but we have to figure out their names before that happens! I'm pretty sure we won't know those until they get here and we can see them. I never thought I would be that person...that has to see what they look like before I can name them. I thought picking out names would be the easiest thing ever. Growing up, I would hear a name and put it back in my head to keep for whenever I finally had kids, but over time, my taste has changed, new names have come out, our friends started having kids and using some of the names, etc. Not to mention all the pressure of picking out a name. They are stuck with it forever and it has to grow with them! It also has to go with our last name and then we have the task of also picking out middle names! I do have to say, it's probably the most stressful thing about the whole pregnancy. So if that's all I have to worry about, I have no complaints (except that even my calves are getting fat!).
