29 week Dr. Appointment

Today was my 29 week appointment with the doctor. He said that my uterus is the size of someone carrying one baby at 36 weeks! But he said that I'm right on track to where I should be since there is 2 in there.

I asked him if it's possible for them to run out of room since they always seem so smooshing in there, and he said they are fine and they are not smooshed.

I'm experiencing pretty bad heartburn so he told me what to do about that. And he told me that I need to start counting my Braxton Hicks contractions and if I have more than 6 an hour to call him. I think the most I've had in an hour so far is either 3 or 4.

But overall, everything looks good! I go back in 2 weeks for an ultrasound to measure them again. I can't believe in 2 weeks I'll be almost 31 weeks! We're getting so close!

Alabama

Last week, after we got approval from my doctor to make the trip and we found out that the Puppy Hotel we take the dogs to are familiar with diabetic dogs and giving them shots, we decided to make a surprise trip to Alabama to my grandparents house for Thanksgiving.

I was very excited to be able to see my Mamaw and Papaw and for them to see my growing belly. They are so excited for these babies and I want them to feel included as much as they can for being over 600 miles away!
The drive there went a little slower with a total of 8 stops for me to use the bathroom. But I did a little better on the way home and we shaved about an hour off our previous time on the way there.
My Papaw and I did a belly comparison before we left to come home.

Papaw said my belly is bigger because he can still see his feet and I can't!

28 weeks

Ok, so this picture was actually taken at 28 weeks and 2 days since we were out of town for Thanksgiving. (and I look like crap! I was so tired last night...)

Pregnancy Highlights:
How Far Along: 28 Weeks

Size of babies: 14.8 inches long

Total Weight Gain/Loss: Gained 34.6 lbs (but I'm blaming some of that on Thanksgiving!)

Maternity Clothes: Yes!

Gender: A boy and a girl :)

Movement: Lots of movement. There is a foot or something small like that moving all around in the same spot the last couple of days. It's so funny to feel and see on my belly.

Sleep: I'm starting to have trouble sleeping. I'm making more night trips to the bathroom and it's getting harder to get comfortable. I'm having allergy problems too.

What I miss: Coffee or hot drinks like that (we got a new coffee maker and I'm so sad that I can't try out all the new flavors of coffee!)

Cravings: Vanilla Milkshakes - David made his first late night craving run last night for a vanilla milkshake from Braum's last night. Not bad considering I haven't asked him to do that during this pregnancy and I'm 7 months along!

Symptoms: More heartburn and my feet and hands are swelling. I can't wear my wedding ring anymore.

Best Moment this week: Getting to surprise my Mamaw and Papaw for Thanksgiving!

Oh geez...you can see all of that 34.6 pound weight gain all in my double chin! Momma is a fatty!
Peanut update:
Peanut has been back to the vet to check his glucose levels and they are still pretty high. So they upped his dosage to 4 units twice a day. But he is acting normal and plays and eats and drinks normally. He seems to be happy, so I'm happy. He does so good with his shots and that's a big help to me. I'm used to waking up the same time every day (including weekends!) to give his first shot to him and we do pretty good with our routine.
I take him back in about 2 weeks to check his progress again.

Happy Thanksgiving!

This year feels so different from the last couple of years. Before, I was just going through the motions during the holidays. But this year, I finally know what it feels like to be truly thankful.

I'm thankful for how blessed David and I are this year. And I can't wait for all of the memories to come in the near future.

Happy Thanksgiving!

I'm too pregnant for this!

Our friends Chip and Mandi got married this weekend and David was in the wedding. So the weekend started off with the rehearsal and rehearsal dinner on Friday night. I was already exhausted from going to An Affair of the Heart that morning and running errands that afternoon. And of course we had to stay out until the OSU game was over (so sad).

Then Saturday started off with more errands (not to mention having to get up at 6:00 am every morning even on my days off to give Peanut his shot, but that's a whole other topic to discuss later), a hair appointment, more errands, a quick 1 hour nap, and then it was time to get ready to head to the wedding.

So after all of that, I surprised myself with how much energy I had at the wedding and how late I was able to stay up on Saturday night. It was such a fun night (despite OU's loss) and we're so happy that we got to share Chip and Mandi's special night with them.

Since I'm hanging out as one of the only sober ones these days, I made it a point to take my camera and take a few pictures.

Amy, Molly, me, and Kristen

Mr. Dunaway and myself

The bride and groom (so sad this was the only picture I got of them)

Chelsea and me

Savannah and me

Chip (the groom) and David

The big hit of the party was a photo booth. It was so fun to dress up and act silly and have goofy pictures to take as memories. There was also a memory book there for Chip and Mandi where you could leave a copy of your pictures for them. Such a good idea! (I so took credit for the photo booth because I might have mentioned something about it to Mandi about a year ago...just kidding, I'm sure she made they decision on her own!)

Congratulations Chip and Mandi! It was such a beautiful wedding and fun reception. We're so happy we got to celebrate with you guys!

3D Ultrasound

We had a 3D ultrasound last Thursday and I have to say I was a little disappointed. Of course I LOVED being able to see the babies, every chance I get, but that's just it, I could see the babies! They are so cramped in there that they are both folded in half and have legs, feet, arms, and hands in front of their faces! And Baby Girl spent most of her time facing my spine so it was extra hard to see her face!

These are the best pictures we could get of them:
Baby Boy did a pretty good job of posing for the camera. I'm convinced he just doesn't have anywhere else to go because she is smooshing him. But we got a few more pictures of him than we did of her. He likes to keep his hands up by his face and snuggle into the placenta though.

I think his eyes are shaped like David's.

This is a picture of how they are positioned next to each other. Her spine is resting on his butt.

Baby Girl was less cooperative. We poked at her over and over to try to get her to roll over and face us instead of my spine. She would get mad and kick back and finally rolled over halfway. We could see that she had the hick ups and was probably not in a good mood from those and from us poking on her. Then when she finally turned over all the way, she either had a hand, arm, leg, or foot in from of her face and she also likes to snuggle up to the placenta. One time her face was even smashed up against my belly which made her look like she has a pig nose!
In this picture, you can see her toe touching her forehead!
And this was one of the last pictures we got of her. The little booger opened one eye and smiled at us!
The ultrasound tech said she thinks they are going to look alike, with the same features. And she thinks they both have David's eyes and my nose and lips.

27 week Dr. Appointment

Yesterday was a long day at the doctor's office. I had to do the glucose test (still don't know the results), then we had an ultrasound to do measurements on the babies, and then I had to meet with the doctor to go over the results.

The ultrasound was a little rushed because I had to get back to the lab for my blood work at a specific time. But the tech got all the measurements she needed and we got to see them move around a little bit.
This is the only picture we got though :( This is baby Boy, all smushed in there with his head tilted.

He was looking right at us.
Little Girl was less cooperative by facing my spine. I guess she was camera shy this one time. But she was my most active one of the day. I guess she got all the sugary orange drink before her brother got any. He was relaxed (probably because he has no room because she is smushing him!)
They measured good and are right on track. He is 2 pounds 6 ounces and she is 2 pounds 3 ounces. The doctor said he is a little bit on the bigger side and is in the 76th percentile, and she is a little bit on the smaller side in the 46th percentile. But everything looks perfect.

We also scheduled my C-Section! So I now have an actual date to tell people! When people have been asking me when I'm due, my usual response is "I'm due Feb. 17th, but that's 40 weeks and I probably won't make it that far with twins so maybe the end of January or first of February". But now I can say "February 2nd at 11:00 am!" Of course they can still come before that, but I won't go any further than Feb. 2nd. I hope I make it that far though...because that means they will be born on 2-2 (perfect date for 2 babies!)

Work Shower

Some co-workers of mine threw me a baby shower for the twins last Friday. It was my first shower and I was so excited!

The babies got a bunch of cute stuff! (I really was excited even though I really don't look like it in this picture!)

And lots of diapers and wipes!
I also got one of my car seats and my video baby monitor! I'm so excited to start using all of it! These babies are going to be so spoiled!

My sweet Peanut

I took Peanut to the vet yesterday because I thought he might be dehydrated. He had gotten into some trash that had left over chicken in it last Friday and over the weekend he wasn't acting himself and was constantly thirsty.
So I took him in just to get checked out and expected them to give him some fluids or something to hydrate him.
I was not expecting the call I got telling me that they ran some test s and it turns out...Peanut is diabetic.
This crushed me because someone I work with just got the same results with her dog and I've been listening to her talk about how difficult it's been to get her glucose levels right and all of the shots and her dog even had a seizure because her levels got too low.
Long story short...Peanut was put on prescription food and treats only. He can't have a bite of anything else. And I have to give him shots of insulin twice a day after he eats. And he has to stay on a schedule of eating/shots every 12 hours.
I will also have to take him into the vet once a week for a while and leave him there for the day to test his glucose levels for them to see if his insulin dosage needs to change or stay the same.
This was him on the way to the vet yesterday :(

So sad. It breaks my heart.

He also had high results in his blood test for possible Liver disease and high cholesterol, which these can effect his glucose levels too. Both of those are basically a result of his age. He's 11 years old and we've been pretty lucky with his health up until now.

He's not liking his new food very much but I'm planning on adding a little chicken broth to it tonight to add some flavor.

He also has a dental disease and a urinary tract infection.
I feel so bad for him but I have to just realize he is getting older an all I can do is try to make it as easy for him as possible.

I love my sweet Peanut.

25 week Dr. appointment

I won't officially be 25 weeks until Friday but I had my 25 week appointment today and everything looks great!

I didn't get a full ultrasound, just a little ultrasound with his amazing hand held machine. But I got to see the heart beats and that's all I care about. I was a little bummed that we hadn't had an ultrasound where they were actually measured in a long time so I asked him if he could tell how big they were from that machine. And he said that they are around 2 pounds each! He said that physically I'm as far along as a person with one baby would be around 30-31 weeks! So that's why my back is starting to hurt so bad!

We also found out that they have change their positioning a little bit. She did a big flip and her head is now where her butt used to be straight across above my belly button and he is straight up and down (butt right at my belly button and head on my cervix). So they kind of make a T across my belly.

I go back in 2 weeks for my glucose test, a big ultrasound for measurements that they said is going to take an hour because there are 2 babies, and a regular doctor's visit. It's going to be a long appointment but I get to see the babies for an hour!
