Happy Fall Y'all

Friday was the official first day of fall. So I decided to get out a few items to decorate the front porch.

I was having trouble finding some fall pillows to put in the chairs, so I made my own!

I bought some pillow inserts from Hobby Lobby, some cheap burlap fabric, some fabric paint, and some stencils. No, I don't have a sewing machine but I do know how to make a hem. But all I did with these pillows was use the no sew steam seam stuff that you iron on and it worked perfectly.

I'm not crazy about the door decorations and all of my mismatched leaves, but it'll do. It's a little hard to try to focus on decorating something else when I'm also trying to get a nursery and playroom put together at the same time!

Speaking of the nursery...
We finished painting!

The second coat of paint did the trick and I think the gray is now the perfect shade. I can't wait to get the bedding ordered and decorations up. We still have a ways to go before it's finished and another crib to put together, but I feel like the hardest part is over.

Also, up next, we're hoping to start painting the playroom this week!

Ultrasound Appointment

We had our latest ultrasound appointment yesterday afternoon and I was lucky enough to get to see the babies moving around for about 30 minutes!
This was a big ultrasound, where they have to measure everything and it takes twice as long to measure 2 babies, one of which was very busy in there. Little Boy was moving around like crazy and the tech was having a hard time getting good shots of all of his parts but what she did get looked good.

This was the first shot he gave us...he was very proud of himself, as was his daddy!

His arm

His face

His profile

She wasn't very shy either. But hers was more like she was posing. She proudly gave the tech every shot she needed with no trouble. She's so photogenic already!
Her face

Her feet
Her profile

As far as we can tell, everything looked good. We didn't get to see the doctor because he had to go deliver a baby, so I go back today.
She is measuring at 18 weeks 5 days, and weighs 9 ounces. And he is measuring at 19 weeks 2 days, and weighs 10 ounces.
I did tear up at one point...When we got to see the hearts beating and the infrared thing that shows the blood pumping in the heart. It just means so much to me to see those little hearts beating every time because of what we went through with the other babies. I'm terrified each time that there will be no heartbeats, so it's such a blessing to be able to see healthy beating. Her heart rate was 153 and his was 147. Perfect!

Our busy weekend

We had several things on our agenda for this past weekend. First up was the Race for the Cure in downtown Tulsa.

We went to support our friend Kristen whose mother Jan passed away from Breast Cancer 3 years ago.
This is Kristen and her cute little family.

Saturday was also our 4 year wedding anniversary. No special picture for this one...We celebrated by going out to eat for lunch and then headed home for a nap before it was time to go watch the Sooners play that night. That was just fine with me because a nap is the perfect present for me right now :) And these babies are all we could ever ask for anyway.

Then Sunday, we got up and worked on the nursery. This is what we accomplished...

This was right after we had finished for the day. I should have taken another picture later in the day because the gray faded a little bit and wasn't so dark. I think it looks a lot better now.
We just have a few minor touch ups on this wall and we need to add a second coat of gray to the rest of the walls. We hope to finish it up this week! I'm so excited to get it done and start decorating!

18 Weeks

Pregnancy Highlights:
How Far Along: 18 Weeks

Size of babies: 5.6 inches long

Total Weight Gain/Loss: Gained 13 lbs

Maternity Clothes: Yep, just pants though. I only really have one "maternity" shirt.

Gender: A boy and a girl :)

Movement: Yep! I can feel them moving all the time. I think I can feel one baby more than the other, but it just might be where she is located.

Sleep: I've had pretty bad allergies lately so only a stopped up nose and snoring has limited a little bit of my sleep.

What I miss: Margaritas

Cravings: Peanut M&Ms

Symptoms: Headaches in the mornings and a little bit of heartburn off and on.

Best Moment this week: Feeling them move every day. Now that I know what it feels like, every flutter or pop makes me smile and reassures me that they're ok in there.

Nursery Progress Part 2

We made more progess on the nursery last night.
I finished taping off the rest of the wall and David and I removed the tape we didn't need for the lines we're going to paint gray.

I went by Sherwin Williams and picked up another sample of paint. You can see my samples on the wall. I think we decided to go with Essential Gray, the lighter one.

I'm excited to get it finished but we're taking our time and just doing a little each night so we don't get burned out on it. I HATE painting and taping off and dealing with runs and all of that crap. So I'm hoping I can handle it in little doses.
I think the Chevron pattern is going to make the room look taller!

Nursery Progress

Last night I got the sudden energy and urge to work on the nursery a little bit. This is all the progress I made...

And that took almost 2 hours!

We first started by measuring where the vertical lines needed to go. Then we had to learn a trick to make those vertical lines straight and level. After we figured that out, that part went fast. Then I marked down 10.5 inches on each vertical line because that's how thick I wanted the stripes to be. I tested out one row of stripes to make sure I was satisfied and then I called it a night. It was really tricky getting the angle right where the stripe meets the ceiling.

I also tested out some gray paint on the other walls and I'm going back to Sherwin Williams today to get another sample color because I think what I have picked out is too dark/blue/purple gray.

Starting on the nursery

Project nursery has officially started!

I hope no one minds that this blog is now turning into all about the babies. But honestly, that was the whole reason this blog started. Yes, it began with our infertility struggles, but I had hopes of eventually getting pregnant and posting picture after picture of my babies. So now I'm getting my chance. I just don't want people to think I've forgotten the pain and heartache we have been through and now I'm just in gaga baby land. Trust me, that's not the case. I still have struggles every day that something is going to happen to these babies and we're going to have to start all over again. But I'm also letting myself enjoy this time which I feel is completely ok to do. I've waited a long time for this and I'm finally start get my hopes up that all of this might just work out for us. It's a hard thing to explain, but infertility doesn't just go away as soon as you get pregnant.

So on to the nursery...
I picked up the cribs on Saturday. And just FYI... there is a twins discount at Babies R Us. If you purchase more than one of the same big item, like a crib, then you get a 10% discount. I was aware of this discount when we ordered the cribs, but I had 2 20% coupons that David and I used and no one told me that I could also combine that with the 10% twin discount. So when I picked the cribs up I told them I wanted the twin discount too and I ended up getting $47 back! So total, I saved about $160 on these 2 cribs with my coupons and the discounts! Aren't coupons fun?!

David assembled one crib to check the size to make sure the room would be set up how we had planned before we started painting. I'm going to attempt to do the Chevron pattern on one of the walls and I wanted to make sure it would be the wall that the dresser/changing table was on.

I had a crib picked out that looks just like the one in this picture, but it ended up being a little too big and I was afraid 2 wouldn't fit into the nursery together. So this is what we went with:

This is the only picture I took of it this weekend and it's covered in plastic because I started painting the first wall yesterday.
I have to paint the whole wall white first, which you can't see in this picture because our walls are so light anyway. Then I plan on measuring and taping off the pattern this week.
I'll keep posting the progress so keep checking back!

I HATE Babies R Us!

This past Saturday, my friend Kristen joined me in the very exciting task of registering at Babies R Us and Target. I had my list prepared and I felt like I was going to be very organized about it. I took Kristen along instead of David because I knew she would have advice on the stuff I should and shouldn't get and David would have hated every minute of it. And I could just picture both of us staring down the isles, just clueless on where to start.

So I give my information to the registry person and I get my scanner and I'm on my way. They suggest that you start in the toy section and work your way around the store and finish in the feeding and bath section because that's the most overwhelming section. Well, who are they freaking kidding?! I got overwhelmed in the first isle of the toy section!!! So basically, Kristen registered for my babies with just a little help from me. And after 3 1/2 hours of isle after isle of this, we were finally done and I hobbled out of there hungry and sore.

After all of that, we decided to get Target knocked out that night too. By then, I just started scanning random items and really have no clue what's on my Target registry. I plan on cleaning it up sometime. I was over it all. I compared it to when you get engaged. You want to get engaged so bad because planning a wedding looks like so much fun until you're actually doing it and it's not so much fun after you pick out your dress. I've waited for a baby for so long that I used to search the internet all the time for baby clothes, car seats, and strollers. And now that it's finally here, I want all of this part over with and I just want my babies here and I want their closets to be magically stocked with necessities.

So yesterday, I decided to get online and check out the damage I did at Babies R Us, only to find that my registry didn't exist. I started to panic so I called them immediately...and they couldn't find it either! My exact words were "I spent 3 1/2 hours creating that registry yesterday, you better find it!" Ok, I'm a little hormonal, but also I've been very unimpressed by the Babies R Us employees. All of them act like it's their first day there and they know nothing when you ask any kind of question. No help at all!
Thankfully, they found it and it turns out they had spelled my last name wrong when they entered my information into the computer. That might be something important to get right, don't you think?!

So happy it's all over with!

Kickoff weekend

This weekend was the kickoff to football season. And normally, we're routing for the Sooners, but we got invited by our friends Cory and Molly to attend the Oklahoma State Cowboys game instead and we're glad we went. We had a lot of fun and we appreciate the invite guys!

Since we usually wear Crimson and Creme, Molly let me borrow an OSU dress and it was perfect! It was comfortable and stretchy, which was necessary because I probably gained about 10 pounds eating all of the free food and candy available in the club level where our seats were! I love having the excuse that I'm eating for 3!
