Party Planning

OK, so let me just state the obvious...I'm a planner. I always have been. I'm a list maker, always thinking ahead, organized, schedule maker, OCD, planner. Always have been and I get it from my Momma.

Yes, the babies turn 1 in January...and yes, I'm starting to plan their birthday party. I have looked forward to these moments for so long and I just want to try to make it as perfect as possible. I love birthday parties with cute themes and decorations. I love the pictures and memories made. We've waited on these babies for a long time so I think it's only right to celebrate them in grand style!!! (And Yes, I will use that "we waited forever..." excuse for everything in their lives!)

So... I've decided on a theme and I've started planning the decorations and invitations. And the other day I was searching through the $1 section at Target and picked up these goodies...

My plan is to do a little at a time so I'm not hurried to finish everything up in January. I'm so excited!!!

My roly poly and little fishies

We have an infestation of roly polies in our house...

I don't know what to do! They're all over my living room floor...

I was able to catch this one on camera. I know we have another one somewhere around here but that crazy roly poly actually takes naps...in the bed!

But I do have to admit, this one's pretty cute!

We also have a couple of little fishies!

They love the water and that makes me so happy! We had another fun swim lesson on Saturday. Chloe was even trying to swim! She was moving her arms and kicking her legs when David had her on her tummy in the water. It looked like she was dog paddling! I wish I had it on camera. She wants to go somewhere so bad!

We went swimming again yesterday in our rafts. They both kick and splash and Chloe loves to just sit back in her raft and enjoy the water. We went during naptime though, and this didn't mix well with a little boy that also skipped his first nap...

6 months!

The babies are 6 months old today!

Connor
Age: 6 months
Wearing 9 month clothes...for now. The boy grows like a weed!

Favorite Toy:
His feet, binki, soccer ball that plays music, and his jumperoo.

Favorite Food:
Right now it's apples. That's the only fruit we've given them so far so I'm sure it will change as soon as he tries bananas. He also does pretty good with carrots. He pretty much eats anything we give him but definitely favors the orange and yellow colors over the greens.

Activities:
Playing with his feet, playing in the jumperoo, and playing with Daddy.

Sleep:
He's continuing to sleep through the night, going to bed at 8:00 and waking up at 6:30-7:00 to go to day care. He's getting a little better at naps but still won't take them in his crib.

Development:
He's rolling over ALL the time now. Last night he would roll over from his back to his front and then just keep on going back to his back and he was rolling all over the living room. He's almost sitting by himself. He grabs at his feet all the time and tries to put them in his mouth. He's eating pretty good from a spoon and we tried giving him a sippy cup last night. That will take some time. He can also put his paci back in his mouth if it falls out and is still in reach.

Hair:
More and more is coming in every day!

Personality:
My sweet momma's boy is turning into a daddy's boy! He LOVES playing with his daddy and his face lights up when he sees him. If David makes a toot noise with his mouth, Connor does it right after him. Connor knows this is their game so he does it all the time. It's not so fun when he does this when I'm trying to feed him! He still loves to cuddle and is pretty happy most of the time. He loves to jabber and is still very curious about everything he sees. He has to touch everything and of course tries to put it in his mouth. He even reaches for Chloe with his mouth open like he's trying to eat her! He has gotten a hold of her toes a few times!

Chloe
Age: 6 months
Wearing 6 month clothes.

Favorite Toy:
Still her "Moo Moo", the exersaucer, this rolling caterpillar thing that lights up and plays music and her new first baby doll (yet to be named).

Favorite Food:
Apples and sweet potatoes. She does pretty good eating almost everything we give her but her least favorite has to be peas.

Activities:
She has also found her feet and she is jabbering like crazy!

Sleep:
She is such a good sleeper. I can't say this enough and I hope it never changes! It's like she has an internal clock and is very predictable about her naps and bedtime. I feel like she is going to be like me with schedules and routines. She HAS to be in bed by 8:00 pm or she is screaming. She falls asleep on her back but ends up on her belly every night with her head buried in the bumper or in her Moo Moo. She usually wakes up before Connor does and plays with her toys in her crib and sometimes even falls back asleep.

Development:
She rolls over both ways with no problem. She can sit up on her own for just a few seconds before she falls over to the side. She eats with a spoon really good and even tries to grab the spoon and feed herself. It's like she has to "help" us feed her. She had nothing to do with the sippy cup when we offered it to her last night.

Hair:
She's growing a little bit more fuzz and the color isn't as red as it used to be.

Personality:
Her personality is coming out more and more. She's becoming more of a happy baby the majority of the time now. I think her tummy issues that always made her feel bad are finally getting better. She still has a temper when she's tired though. She has found her voice and she loves to hear it. She loves her GiGi, I think even more than she loves us! We never hear her giggle until GiGi comes around and she immediately starts laughing. We try so hard to get her to laugh at us and she just won't do it! She loves being outside and being in water. She loves seeing lots of people and turns into a little show off in big crowds.

Happy 1/2 Birthday to my sweet babies!

Girls Day

My mom came up to visit and to go to The Affair of the Heart on Saturday. We decided to take Chloe with us and I'm so glad we did. I knew she would do good because she loves watching people and looking at new and different places.

She LOVED it. She was being so silly and smiling at everyone. She has also learned to do a new sound that kind of sounds like an injured bird. She would squawk really loud and then smile.

She sat in her stroller half the time and we carried her the other half. She liked being eye level with people as we passed them. It was like she thought they were all there to see her because she sure did put on a show for everyone. She's cute and she knows it! There was only about a 10 minute nap in the stroller so I was worried she was going to start getting fussy. But no tantrums here!

She did start to get tired though at the end. This is how we found her in her car seat when we finally made it home...

Miss Priss was exhausted.

I'm so glad that we did some one on one time with the babies like this. David took Connor to a friends house to swim while we were gone and he said he had fun too. They both got individual attention and we also gave each other a little break instead of having one of us watch both babies alone while the other went and did something. And taking just one baby somewhere is so easy! It was no big deal to just be changing one diaper all day and preparing just one bottle and feeding one baby. It was a piece of cake! Not to mention we didn't have people stopping to gawk at us every 2 seconds because everyone is so interested in twins.

So after a busy day for us on Saturday, we spent the whole day yesterday in our pjs, cuddling, napping, and watching tv.

Swimming Lessons

We finally started swimming lessons this past Saturday!
Chloe was immediately interested when we got to the pool. She saw water and other kids, some of her favorite things! As you can tell, Connor's just along for the ride. To tell you the truth, they both were ready for a nap!

We each grabbed a baby and got in the pool!

Now, of course the babies aren't going to be learning how to swim at this age. Having babies in swim lessons is supposed to teach them confidence in the water so they won't be scared or cry if we take them to a pool or the lake. They'll learn more and more by taking classes each year.

It was good for David and me also because we learned a few of the popular nursery rhymes that we've been singing the wrong words to, like The Wheels on the Bus, and Itsy Bitsy Spider. As we sing these songs, at certain parts we do different things in the water, like getting their mouths closer and closer to the water so they start to learn to blow bubbles. We didn't actually dunk the babies under water yet. I was too scared.

We all had fun and it was a good family activity for us! We're so excited that we have 6 more weeks of classes!

Look what Connor can do...

My baby boy is growing up too fast!!!

When we play at night, we try sitting the babies up to see what they can do and yes, they usually just fall over to the side or whatever. But yesterday, the day care lady informed me that Connor can sit up really well. I'm so happy that I get all of these milestone updates from her (insert sarcasm!!!!). I feel like she gets to watch my babies grow up and discover everything first and I HATE it! Moving on... So my big boy is sitting up with a little assistance from the boppy pillow.

I'm really shocked that he's doing this before Chloe since she's been holding her head up for so long and I really expect her to just stand up one day and start walking because she acts like she is so independent. She just seems so much stronger than him right now and he's so laid back and just goes with the flow. She wants to stand up all the time, and as soon as she rolled over the first time it was like she had it figured out and it just became second nature. Connor, on the other hand, did technically roll over first, one time, but then it was a long time before he did it again even though he would work on it every day, and that was just last week! Now he thinks he needs to roll over all the time and he always looks up to see if anyone saw what he just did. He's so proud of himself.

I have a feeling they're going to surprise me with who is going to accomplish what milestone first.  I know I'm not supposed to compare them, but I'm so interested to see how differently they do everything.
